The Role of Lady Health Workers
Originally focused on Maternal and Child Health (MCH), the responsibilities of LHWs have evolved to cover a broader spectrum. They now actively participate in health campaigns, provide newborn care, manage community TB, and educate communities on HIV/AIDS health. On average, each LHW visits 27 households per week, offering advice and consultations to approximately 22 individuals.
There are around 12,000 LHWs who will receive Rs14,084 (BPS-5) each, along with 560 Lady Health Supervisors earning Rs17,000 (BPS-7) each.
